POEM: Corruption admonishes Anna Hazare

Posted by Indian Muslim Observer | 06 April 2011 | Posted in , , , ,

[Veteran social activist Anna Hazare is currently on indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, to demand the passage of 'Jan Lokpal Bill ' in Parliament to check corruption in India. Dr. Mustafa Kamal Sherwani has written this poem aptly pointing out the present situation in the country as far as corruption is concerned. – IMO]

By Dr. Mustafa Kamal Sherwani

Dear Mr.Anna Hazare!

You may have indefinite fast, you may die,

But nobody will be ready to hear your cry;

At my feet, the mightiest of politicians lie,

With them, I am having an unbreakable tie.

You are risking your life at this stage,

All will call you a villain, and not a sage;

For you, it is not wise to incur my rage,

I feel pity on you at this advanced age.

Law-making bodies are my breeding-ground,

From there, I come down with a strong sound;

In the veins of the majority, my love is found,

On you, from every corner, people will pound.

You may   be senile, but must not be  a fool,

You are, no doubt, angry, but keep your cool;

Your admirers are using you as an easy tool,

You will disappear if you dip into   my pool.

 I have become an adjective of India’s name,

With untiring efforts, I achieved this fame;

On my shining career, you are putting a blame,

You, an outworn species!  Have some shame!

I admonish you to follow the modern trend,

The Gandhian times have come to an end;

I have a firm resolve, which none can bend,

Lastly, you will be left alone, with no friend.

A Message to My Fellow Indians

Posted by Indian Muslim Observer | 06 March 2011 | Posted in , , , ,

Some may trace in me the face of a rebel,

For others, I may have a terrorist label;

But believe me, my dear lovely Indians!

Beyond such minds is my moral travel.

I am an Indian; India is a pride for me,

But my heart is seething with anger;

When I see the silence on your side,

Making the evils stronger and stronger.

This dirty politics; These filthy leaders,

This heinous game; These hideous players;

Your fortune is resting with  these robbers,

Under the garb of law, they are your sellers.

In their quest to plunder the nation,

These criminals form a single block;

But to deceive you, they pretend to fight,

So that you may not stand as a solid rock.

You view them in the light of caste and creed,

Their sinister moves have divided your ranks;

Your multitudes suffer from the pangs of hunger,

While your money is going to the foreign banks.

Break all the barriers of religion and faith,

Once again, India is begging for your blood;

Stand like an embankment along the river,

To contain this menacing ‘corruption flood’.

Your democracy is nothing but an open  farce,

You are under the illusion that you have a voice;

Look at the horizons of this changing  globe,

Bury these corrupt! Now it is your only choice.

Government’s Policy On Kashmir!

Posted by Indian Muslim Observer | 10 September 2010 | Posted in

By RMB Qureishi

The debate Government’s policy on Kashmir on a popular News Channel was going on in full swing.

What was lacked in knowledge and depth on the topic was made up by increasing their loudness and pitch.

Retired diplomats who had achieved nothing during their tenure were giving expert opinions like Cricket commentators who did not even qualify to play for the district teams, but were experts in pinpointing faults of national players.

Retired Generals, who had an average record during service, were giving unnecessary political opinions on topics of which they had only shallow knowledge. Military solution to political problems! Most of them were voicing the opinion of the parties they had joined after retirement and increasing their chances of becoming governors in any troubled state.

Persons representing think tanks were voicing their expert opinion. (Empty vessels make much noise, empty think tanks still more)

Most of them had been to Kashmir only for their honeymoon trip.

Sitting in their air conditioned offices in Delhi the India Habitat Centre & Gymkhana crowd considered themselves as experts on Kashmir.

Kashmir is discussed between the gap in choota Peg & chicken leg.

American public is generally distrustful about three kinds of people, insurance salesmen, TV preachers and ambulance chasing lawyers.

Indians can add a fourth category, experts on TV debates. It is a vicious circle for any debate they choose a few people with extreme views who scream and shout at each other and the debate is supposed to be a success. The same people are running from channel to channel to take part in identical debates.

Anyone with a Christian name or wearing padre clothes represents Christians, anyone with a Muslim name or having a beard represents Muslims, anyone with a Dalit surname represents Dalits though no one from their communities may know them. In most cases, they only represent themselves. And they are experts on all topics and have an opinion on everything.

Now you must be wondering where is the government’s policy on Kashmir?

The secret is out. Isn’t it obvious, the government has no policy on Kashmir!!!!!!!

Before Burning Quran, Listen to me!

Oh the victims of mad frenzy,
Oh the occupants of perverse mind;
I feel pity, and not anger for you,
Nothing but sheer idiocy, in you, I find.

Before burning Quran, please efface from it,
The sacred names of Jesus and Mary;
And all the Prophets from Adam to Christ,
Whose love has made you so much wary.

I am sure, you have lost all your sight,
Tell me which brand of Christian you are;
You may abhor Muslims and their faith,
But stop! Do not try to go that too far.
