Outstanding British-Bangladeshi Lawyer M. A. Muid Khan selected for prestigious Excellence Legal Awards 2012

“The first British-Bangladeshi lawyer M. A. Muid Khan, a Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer & Barrister, has been selected for the Excellence Awards in the category of “Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer” of England & Wales,” said a press release issued by John Adams, Head of Diversity Affairs & Press Relation Officer, EU Migration Services, UK.
The Law 2012, the Law Society published the names of best lawyers of England & Wales for their prestigious Excellence Award 2011. Mr. Muid Khan has been ranked as third in the top 5 Chartered Legal Executive Lawyers of England & Wales by the Law Society. 

His name will be announced by BBC broadcaster Mishal Husain at a black-tie dinner and presentation ceremony, which will take place on October 18th at Old Billingsgate, London.
The Excellence Awards reward the most outstanding practitioners in the legal profession and are open to the entire legal sector. Entries were judged earlier this month by specialist judges, including Adam Sampson, chief executive of the Legal Ombudsman; Frances Gibb, Legal Editor at The Times; and Chris Marston, head of professional practices at Lloyds TSB.

Mr. Khan was selected by the specialist judges of the Law Society for the above award for his significant achievement in the field of Human Rights & Fundamental Freedom. Mr. Khan’s dedication to pro-bono work at the local, national & international level, his robust performance to protect the best interests of his clients in difficult human rights & immigration cases decided on “Common Law Principles of Fairness”, “Legitimate Expectation”, “True Construction of Policy”, “True Construction of Rules” etc were highly appreciated by the specialist judges of the Law Society. Several Senior Judges have declared him as one of the best human rights lawyers of England & Wales. He has already become a leading authority in the field of Human Rights & Fundamental Freedom in England & Wales. 

It is also mentionable that on 31st may 2012, M. A. Muid Khan was honoured as the Best Human Rights Lawyer of the England & Wales for 2012 by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX). This is the first time a lawyer from British-Bangladeshi origin achieved this prestigious National Legal Award “CILEX Pro Bono Award 2012” from CILEX. 

It is mentionable that in October 2011; Law Society selected Mr. Muid Khan as one of the top seven best Legal Executive Lawyers of England & Wales 2011 for their prestigious national legal award “Excellence Award 2011”. No other lawyers from British-Bangladeshi origin have ever won this prestigious recognition. 

In addition, in April 2011, M. A. Muid Khan was jointly honoured by the Bar Council, Law Society and ILEX in recognition of his significant achievement in the field of Human Rights & Fundamental Freedom with their joint prestigious national legal award “Advocacy in the face of Adversity 2011”. This was also the first time a lawyer from British-Bangladeshi origin achieved this prestigious National Legal Award.

“British-Bangladeshi Who’s Who 2011” has recognized Mr. Khan’s outstanding achievement in the diverse legal field and published his profile for their 2011 edition as “one of the most successful and recognized figures in the British Bangladeshi community.”

Barrister Muid Khan is the second son of late Prof. A.N.M. Abdul Mannan Khan, Ex-Chairman and Senior Professor of the Department of Arabic, University of Dhaka. 

Mr. Khan is working as the Principal & Supervisor of a leading International Law Firm based at Marble Arch, London. He regularly contributes articles in the Barristers Magazine, UK Border Agency’s publication, Lexis-Nexis, Daily Star, the Independent, the Financial Times, Bangla Mirror, the New Nations, Islamic Digest, Dhaka Courier etc.

Law Society president Lucy Scott-Moncrieff said of this year’s entries: “The quality of this year’s entries is astonishingly high and a testament to the fact that the profession continues to innovate and deliver high-quality legal services even in these economically challenging times… I take great pride in announcing a shortlist of such outstanding …individuals including Muid Khan and wish him well for the future."
