IFC ties up with Shantiniketan school to teach Islam in Urdu

Doha: Indian Friends’ Circle (IFC) Qatar jointly with Shantiniketan Indian School recently opened the Madrasa Darussalam at Shantiniketan Wakra Campus, for Urdu-speaking Indian Muslim students.

The madrasa is aimed at providing the students the basics of Islamic teachings and preparing them to understand and practise Islam in their life.

About 80 students have registered in the madrasa at primary level. The next level will start soon.

The President of Shantiniketan Managing Committee, K C Abdul Lateef, briefed the audience at the opening ceremony about the importance of moral values and shared some best practices and his experiences about the Islamic School (Madrasa) programme run in Doha by other communities.

The chief guest Hafiz Mohammed Rashaduddin, Head of Mathematics Department of Sultanul Uloom College, Hyderabad, India, congratulated IFC-Qatar on this initiative. Taking references from the Holy Quran, life of Prophets and Islamic personalities on learning and application of Islamic knowledge and values in life, he advised parents to encourage their children toward gaining Islamic education.

S M Shakir, President IFC-Qatar, said it was a dream comes true. He appraised the audience of the milestones in the realisation of this dream and appreciated Shantiniketan’s role and support. Mohammed Ismail, Principal of Shantiniketan Indian School said that the real success of this madrasa is when the teachings of Islam will be manifested in the students.
