Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Madhya Pradesh was honoured on United Nations Public Service Award Day at New York. The Minister of State for Public Service Management Brijendra Pratap Singh and Deputy Secretary Public Service Management Manohar Dube received the award at a grand function in New York.

Madhya Pradesh delegation will also participate in Inter-Ministerial Conference on June 27. Madhya Pradesh has been bestowed with the award as second prize in the category “Improving the delivery of public services”. The United Nations had received 471 entries from all over the world.

It is significant that the state has received United Nations award for implementation of Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act in simple and easy way. These results were declared last month after short-listing of entries by United Nations public service experts from September 15 to December 31, 2011. For this, entry was also sent by Madhya Pradesh Public Service Management Department.

The objective of the award is to promote values and quality of public service at local, national and international levels. Through it, recognition and honour are also accorded as awards for international level innovations.

So far, about 1.25 crore applications have been received under Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act in Madhya Pradesh. Under the Act, fine is recovered for failure in delivery of public services to citizens. Fine is imposed on the erring officials. In Madhya Pradesh, 336 Public Service Centres are being opened under PPP Mode for effective implementation of Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act.
