‘Justice is a pre-requisite for World Peace’: Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Ali Al Ghamidi

Lucknow: A host of intellectuals representing different religions joined in welcoming and felicitating Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Ali Al Ghamidi, Imam of Haram Shareef, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on the last day of his visit to India on an invitation of Nadwat ul Ulama, Lucknow, on Sunday (May 6, 2012).


In the welcome accorded to him, Imam of Eidgah Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali thanked the guest of honour for visiting the Eidgah, Aishbagh, where Imam-e-Kaaba earlier addressed a conference on ‘Prophet of Islam and World Peace’ on Friday (May 4, 2012) and had led the Maghrib and Isha Namaz.


Representing the Sikh community, head of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Rajinder Singh Bagga hailed the message of peace and brotherhood given by Islam and the Prophet (pbuh) and spoke about the close-knit ties between his community and Islam saying that the foundation of Golden Temple in Amritsar, the Mecca of Sikhs, was laid by a Muslim faqir (dervish).


Bishop Gerald Mathias said all conflicts were rooted in injustice and said in order to achieve the end of world peace the powers that be will have to ensure justice to all.


In his address, Imam-e-Kaaba expressed gratitude for the hospitality accorded to him and was quite happy to see the sincerity and communal harmony with which Islam was followed in India. He cited example from the lives of the Sahaba (companions of the Prophet (pbuh) to show the high standards of justice that have been the benchmark of Islam. He also paid a glowing tribute to the scholars of Farangi Mahal, Lucknow, whose books adorn the Jamia Islamia Madina Munawwara library. He thanked Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali for making his visit fruitful by scheduling such important conferences and visits to significant places.

In his address delivered in Arabic for the benefit of the honoured guest, Rector of Nadwat ul Ulama and President All India Muslim Personal Law Board Syed Rabey Hasan Nadwi said the legacy of imams in Makkah was rendering great service to Islam. Imam-e-Kaaba exchanged pleasantries with Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali and also unveiled foundation stones for the buildings of Elite Public School and Darul Uloom Farangi Mahal.


In his vote of thanks, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali thanked Sheikh Dr Al Ghamidi for visiting the Eidgah and dignitaries including Maulana Salma Nadvi, Maulana Syedur Rahman Azmi Nadvi, Professor Shakeel Samdhani of AMU and Zafaryab Jilani for participating in the programme.


The function concluded with a dua for world peace and brotherhood and harmony among the mankind.
