IMO News Service

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front (TNUEF) will organize an agitation on April 10, 2012 (Friday) at 10 am to condemn the state government for intentionally diverting the funds allotted exclusively for Dalit welfare schemes.

TNUEF in a press release said that Dalit Rights activists, Dalit leaders, human rights activists, Journalists and social workers will participate to raise voice against the gross injustice to Dalits in Tamil Nadu.

Angry protestors of TNUEF said in a statement, "More than Rs. 6,000 crores allotted for Dalit welfare schemes have been diverted by the government to other general schemes, which is inhuman and undemocratic. Government's order to pay the educational fees for SC/ST students (6/9-1-2012) has not been followed in the state. Contracts and tenders with regard to Dalit welfare projects should be provided to Dalits only. Government should bring out a precise white paper on what the state government had done with the funds allotted for Dalits welfare in 2011-2012."
