Bhopal: A separate Directorate of Women Empowerment is being established in Madhya Pradesh by bifurcating the Directorate of Women and Child Development for more effective implementation of women’s empowerment schemes.

This was decided in the cabinet meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Government chaired by the state Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan here.

It may be mentioned that there are 78,919 Anganwadi centres under 435 Integrated Child Development Scheme of Woman and Child Development Department. Besides, several other schemes including Ladli Laxmi Yojna, Sabla, Usha Kiran, ICDS, Beti Bachao Abhiyan, Atal Behari Vajpayee Child Health & Nutrition Mission etc. have also been introduced. This decision has been taken in view of the fact that there is only one officer at the directorate level for all these schemes and there is heavy burden of work.

With the view to ensuring more effective and prompt action in cases of crimes against women, the cabinet decided to create four posts of Deputy Director (Prosecution) in revised pay scale at Special Cell and Regional Cells at Indore, Bhopal and Jabalpur.

The cabinet also decided to create four posts of Deputy Director (Prosecution) in revised pay scale for 8 special courts set up under Madhya Pradesh Vishesh Nyayalaya Adhiniyam-2011.
The cabinet decided to waive off loans worth Rs. 4 crore 82 lakh outstanding against 123 Viable/Potentially Viable Weavers’ Cooperative Societies.
