Helping Indian Muslims

Kluang: Eighty underprivileged pupils from the Indian Muslim community here received RM100 and a pair of new school shoes each as part of contributions from the Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma).

Kimma chairman Datuk Syed Ibrahim Kader said even though the school term had began, the contributions would hopefully encourage the pupils to work hard in their studies.

He said Kimma regarded educational aid as a top priority as it would help pupils to lessen the financial burden of their families.

"The congress would continue handing out such aid, especially to pupils who are under Kimma's responsibility.

"Our objective is to eradicate poverty among the Indian Muslim community.

"We aim to better the livelihood of the community's poor within three years with aid such as business capital," said Syed Ibrahim after presenting the aid to the pupils at Dewan Masjid India, recently.

Meanwhile, Kluang Kimma chairman Hassan C.K. Hassan said the money and school shoes would ease the burden of the pupils' parents and caregivers.

"With this help, they could focus on scoring well in their studies. The congress is also identifying other needy families so that Kimma can come to their aid. This is the focus of Kimma's work for the next three years," said Hassan.
