Senior Citizens’ Panchayat in March third week in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: A Senior Citizens’ Panchayat will be held in the third week of March here in Bhopal.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the preparations for the Panchayat at a meeting here today. Chief Secretary to the state government Mr. Avani Vaish was also present on the occasion.


Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan asked the concerning officers to put forth suggestions after deliberations about overall arrangements for Senior Citizens’ health facilities and care should be ensured with due respect and facilities. He called for giving priority to extension of public services to old persons. He said that care centres can be set up at Gram Panchayats for senior citizens with the assistance of non-government social organisations. Aged persons should be given benefits like senior citizens.


A fully-equipped old age home should be set up in all the districts. At present, there are 52 old age homes in 40 districts of the state.


Additional Chief Secretary Mr. R. Parshuram, Principal Secretary Mrs. Aruna Sharma and Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Akash Tripathi also attended the meeting.
