Netherlands to collaborate with Madhya Pradesh in agriculture & horticulture sectors

Bhopal: Netherlands will collaborate with Madhya Pradesh in the development, expansion and scientific orientation of agriculture and horticulture sectors in the state. Netherlands'
Consul-General Ms Marijke A Van Drunen Little called on the state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today and evinced interest in making investment in agriculture and horticulture as well as industrial sectors in Madhya Pradesh. Welcoming Ms Littel, Mr. Chouhan said that Netherlands will be made knowledge partner of Madhya Pradesh in agriculture and horticulture sectors.

Ms Little said that efforts of Madhya Pradesh in agriculture and horticulture sectors are laudable. There is great scope of development in agriculture and horticulture sectors here. Besides, Netherlands is also interested in making investment in other sectors. She said that some of Netherlands' companies are making business operations in the state. Their experience about the state is very good. Admitting cooperation being extended to Netherlands' company DHV Group, its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer J.P.L. Narayan said that there is no problem in Madhya Pradesh. The company is working with the drinking water projects of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and Bhopal Development Authority.

Referring to his Netherlands visit two years ago, Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan said that good progress has been made by that country by using high techniques in the production of fruits, flowers and vegetables. Better results of polyhouse technique have been achieved in Netherlands. He informed that after his Netherlands visit, he had motivated producers of fruits, vegetables and flowers in Madhya Pradesh to adopt polyhouse technique. The Chief Minister also referred to a recent visit of Netherlands by a delegation accompanying Commerce, Industries and Food Processing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. He said that scientists, farmers and officers will be sent to Netherlands in future also for study purpose.

At the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary R. Parshuram gave information about the innovative methods being adopted in agriculture and horticulture sectors in Madhya Pradesh as well as the decisions taken by the State Government in the larger interests of agriculture and farmers. He also informed that a 40-member Netherlands delegation will shortly visit International Expo in New Delhi.

Expressing her wish to send a delegation of her country to the proposed Global Investors Summit at Indore, the Netherlands Consul-General also evinced keen interest in investment in other sectors also. The Chief Minister said that doors of investment are open in Madhya Pradesh. Netherlands is welcome in other sectors as well.

Principal Secretary Madanmohan Upadhayay and Secretary to Chief Minister Hari Ranjan Rao was also present on the occasion.
