Madhya Pradesh initiative for girls education termed as prescriptive for other states

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has been judged as the best performing state in the Country in respect of promoting education of girls through innovative initiatives. The initiative of Madhya Pradesh has been termed as prescriptive for other states, according to a national level survey.

The survey was jointly carried out by national level magazine and Abacus Market Research Survey, New Delhi. With a view to assess the performance of states, the survey is based on 10 parameters - administrative reforms, communal harmony, e-governance, environment awareness, girls education, industrialization, investments, law and order, public distribution system and public health system.

The survey terms the Madhya Pradesh Initiative for education of girls as source of hope for other states. The state Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has reiterated state government's commitment to provide education to girls along with basic skills to enable them get employment.

It is worth noticing here that Madhya Pradesh in the only state to have adopted a holistic approach to girls education and employment. A series of Initiatives like Save Girl Child campaign, Ladli-Laxmi Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Kanyadan Yojana for marriage poor daughters and reservation of government jobs for women have been launched. The integrated efforts have drawn country's attention to Madhya Pradesh. Recently, the scope of Gaon Ki Beti Yojana has been widened to cover those attending private colleges.
