Kohima Village Youth Organization to issue ID cards to ‘Indian Muslims’

Kohima: Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO), which sat for an emergency meeting with Muslim Welfare Society Kohima (MWSK) Friday, has decided that MWSK in coordination with KVYO would issue a detailed Identity Card (ID) to all the bona fide Indian citizens of the Muslim community residing under its jurisdiction.

The meeting was held at its office premises to discuss issue with regard to prevailing disturbances concerning members of Muslim community and non-locals in general, said by KVYO president Dzieseneituo Belho and vice president Peter Rutsa in a release.

The ID card would have detailed information of the individual concerned both at Kohima and their permanent residences.

The information would be used whenever required to help the administration and law enforcing agencies in case of any unwanted situation.

They said KVYO gave MSWK March 1 as deadline to complete the process.

“Those Muslim individual who do not posses the ID card would be treated as illegal immigrants and will not be allowed to be present at Kohima,” said the KVYO.

Further, the KVYO informed that identification drive would cover other communities very soon. It urged the state government and district administration to be cautious while issuing Inner Line Permit (ILP) to non-locals so that genuine Indian citizens were not victimized.

The KVYO also pledged their fullest cooperation to the district administration to check the illegal immigrants under its jurisdiction.
