TNTJ distributes Relief Aids worth Rs. 1 million for the victims of Thane Cyclone

Thane cyclone created mayhem and devasted the coastal parts of Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. With a determined move to tackle this calamity, Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) state office bearers recentlt set up a relief comittee comprising state executive committee members headed by State General Secretary Moulavi.Rahamatullahi and State Secretary Yusuf and requested the District Council to assess the extent of damage, and to provide the victim shelter,which is the need of the hour. The TNTJ distributed rice and biscuits to the victims.

The local TNTJ branches collected the data of the real victims. It was reported that the storm had brought widespread destruction. It has wrecked livelihoods of people. Experts claim it will take minimum of six months for the victims toreturn to their normal lives.

The complete list of victims was prepared and submitted to the relief committee. State committee reviewed the list has decided to extend the aid of Rs. 1 million in the first phase.
On January 4, 2012, State executive committee members Sathick, Yusuf, social activist Thasthakir accompained by district representatives headed by General Secretary Moulavi Rahamatullah visited the affected villages namely Panrutti, Melpattabakkam, Parangipettai of Cuddalore district, and Sultan Estate, OT in Pondicherry and provided the relief funds of Rs.2000/- for each families.

This relief aid was distributed to victims without any discrimination of religion or caste. Many non-Muslim victims were also invited to avail the relief assistance. The people came in long queues and maintained decorum.

General Secretary Moulavi Rahamatullah said “Thane Cyclone has destroyed the livelihood of thousands of people, and as a Muslim it is our responsibility to help these people. Even Prophet Muhammad said that if we assist the misery of the other people Allah will keep us under his protection.”
