SDPI takes umbrage over opening of Israel Consulate in Bangalore

Bhopal: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has taken umbrage over the decision of the Congress-led UPA Government granting Israel permission to open a Consulate in Bangalore following India's External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna’s visit to that country. It is pertinent to note that increasing cooperation between New Delhi and Tel Aviv makes India’s stand on Palestine imbroglio a farce.

SDPI national president E. Aboobacker and general secretary A. Sayeed in a joint statement have condemned the Union Government’s move to allow Israel expand its base in the country. India seeking to forge a joint strategy with Israel to deal with the scourge of terrorism is a big joke as the latter over nine decades has been massacring unarmed Palestinians, including women and children, with impunity.

The duo substantiated their point by recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s statement in 1946 wherein he had said: "But in my opinion, they (the Jews) have erred grievously in seeking to impose themselves on Palestine with the aid of America and Britain and now with the aid of naked terrorism. Why should they depend on American money or British arms for forcing themselves on an unwelcome land? Why should they resort to terrorism to make good their forcible landing in Palestine?"

Mr. Aboobacker said Israel’s ever increasing presence in India has proved to be a bane for the countrymen. In many of the communal conflagrations, especially the aftermath of Babri Masjid demolition, along with and number of bomb blasts in the country, apprehensions have been expressed in many quarters about Israel’s involvement in fermenting trouble. This came true as soon after the Congress Government led by Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao established diplomatic relations with Israel in 1992-1993 Indian people were soaked in blood in the post Babri Masjid demolition riots.

He said following 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai in some sections of the Press it was alleged that it was the handy work of saffron forces with the help of Mossad, the national intelligence agency of Israel. After a number of saffron terrorism escapades media revelation came about the Hindutv outfit Abhinav Bharat’s sinister plan to create complete chaos and lawlessness in the country and then overthrow the elected Government of India which was also with the help of Mossad. The aim was thereby to establish a Hindu Rashtra (Nation) by suspending the Indian Constitution. It is well-known that the Mossad is responsible for intelligence collection and covert operations which are suspected to include targeted killings and paramilitary activities beyond Israel's borders, he pointed out.

Mr. Sayeed stated the Palestinians cannot & will never accept a Palestinian state without Jerusalem, which lies at the very heart of their historical & cultural consciousness and which Israel has unilaterally declared as its eternal capital, in violation of all UN Resolutions & International Law. The Palestinian resistance has stood at the very vanguard of the global struggle against imperialism & Zionism. When the US-Israeli Empire is on the retreat following great upheavals across the world, where the masses are challenging the neo-liberal imperialist paradigm, how much prudent it is to increase the level of cooperation with the Israel, he added.

The statement questioned the notion that Israel will be the only country standing by India’s side when the whole world will be against us. As such all odds & disputes apart, Govt. should work out some serious ties with Israel. This is a very flawed argument. The Zionists have been telling the same thing to the Americans. "Israel is your (USA's) only friend in the Middle East". To this, some American statesman reportedly replied that, "before Israel, we (USA) did not have enemies in the Middle East". Thus, the argument that Israel is your only friend is a self-fulfilling prophesy... once you befriend Israel, you won't have any friends left, at least in Asia, the release added.

The SDPI is not against Jews or Israel, but, certainly against the policy of Israel which while playing havoc against the helpless Palestinian people is a constant threat to the Arab world in the Middle East, the statement further added.
