Bhopal: The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), has expressed its dismay at the failure of the Rajya Sabha to pass the Lokpal Bill even after day-long debate over it. It is defeat of democracy with deceit! The evil designs to save the corrupt and continue with the corruption! It is a negative reflection on the entire country on the quality of its ruling! The malaise of evil prevailed. People will continue to suffer for the lack of conscious to curb the wrong doings of people in power!

E. Aboobacker, National President of SDPI, in a press statement released said that with the melodrama witnessed in the Rajya Sabha the intention of all the political parties is quite clear as to never enact the Lokpal Bill. It was evident that the Congress party was not serious about a powerful Lokpal right from the time when it first introduced a "toothless" bill to the present when it tweaked the original version only marginally to present a draft where political control over the ombudsman remained a primary feature.

Mr. Aboobacker said the Congress party has also been aware all along that, like itself, none of its allies, whether Lalu Prasad or Mulayam Singh Yadav or Mayawati, is in favour of a powerful Lokpal who can nip the financial shenanigans of politicians in the bud. And, for all its posturing, it is difficult to believe that the Bharatiya Janata Party, (BJP), the party of B.S. Yeddyurappa, is dead against sleaze considering how the former Karnataka chief minister had to be dragged kicking and screaming from his post after being charged with corruption.

He said it was the BJP that crashed the Lokpal Bill by presenting 187 amendments at the last minute when there was obviously no time to discuss them? Why is there not so much as a squeak of criticism of the BJP by Team Anna and its supporters? BJP opposed Lokpal in Parliament -- Opposition BJP is for destablising India .They did it in past in the name of religion, caste ,creed ,languages ,regionalism and still continuing the same mission by misusing the democratic norms of remaining in Parliament and oppose all developmental, reforms works Gov takes up .They want to rule and create a parallel force outside constitution and working behind Anna/Kejri/Kiran .This is most dangerous than Arm Naxalite who are also creating parallel forces working against India's sovereignty, democratic set up and secular fabric . After coming out of power in last general election for 2nd time, the frustration of not ruling India is exposed to the BJP and their leaders. By opposing Lokpal in Parliament on 27th December, 2011 BJP has once again exposed their naked intention of destablising India and this time it is in the name of Corruption. In fact Hazare movement is a right wing movement to establish RSS rule in India, he opined out.

He maintained that none of the political parties in India can exist without black money and they are reluctant to make any drastic moves against bribery or corruption. Passing of the Bill in the Lok Sabha and leaving it to its fate, in the hands of opposition parties, in the Rajya Sabha, opposition parties seeking numerous amendments to it –etc. are a well organized drama to cheat the people of India who are eagerly awaiting for remedial measures for the increasing trend of corruption. If UPA wished they could have introduced an effective Bill without worry of the Anna! But why should 700-800 parliamentarians would like to surrender their bought liberties at the cost of social cost, he added.

Mr. Aboobacker said the Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha three days ago and to become Law, the Rajya Sabha has to pass it. It did not happen. Small wonder if it could be passed in the Lok Sabha why it could not in Rajya Sabha, while all the parties claim positive attitude towards the bill. As the count-down started for the vote before midnight, filibustering started. The intention of the government as also the Opposition, including BJP, was clear. The Bill should not be passed. As for Congress the bill tantamount to signing their own arrest warrant especially in the event of Ram Jethmalani’s mentioning of a Swiss magazine which had published the names and pictures of 14 people who have their money laid away in Swiss Banks. The 14th person in the list was a former Prime Minister of India.

The statement stated that as to why Team Anna, the Congress and the BJP are against inclusion of Corporate Houses and NGOs. is not beyond comprehension. Since those institutions are backbones of both the parties in funding elections and mopping votes, it is natural that those parties cannot go against their own interests. The suggestion that "Corporate Houses, if interested to donate, can donate the funds to Election Commission, which in turn should be paid to candidates under the demand - Let election expenditure of candidates be borne by the Government-." was defeated with a huge margin in Lok Sabha. That proves the mindset of the Congress and the BJP in eradication of corruption. Will Anna Hazare take of a serious view on such an important matter?

Mr. Aboobacker wondered as to why the Hazare camp is so desperate for huge funds for the Lokpal? The Jan Lokpal Bill demands 0.25 per cent of India's total revenues annually which works out to a whopping Rs. 2000 crore! In comparison, in the Eleventh Five Year Plan (2007-12), the allocation for the entire Indian judiciary is just Rs. 1470 crores. That is interesting. If we divide Rs. 1470 crores by 5 (since its a 5-year plan) we get Rs. 294 crores. This means, all courts in India (including the SC and HCs and other lower courts) are functioning on a meager budget of Rs. 294 crores a year. Why does the Lokpal need so much money every year? And now they want the administrative control over the CBI which again involves the control of huge funds. There seems to be a sinister design here, added.

Now, that the government gets more time to consider the Lokpal Bill, it is hope that sanity will be restored and the 55 lakh Group C and D employees will be taken off the purview of the proposed Lokpal. Let the Lokpal looking into charges of corruption against Group A and B officers and ministers who are in the government and those who aid them in corrupt acts -like private corporate who pay huge sums to bag contracts). If senior officers are honest their junior babus will also be forced to be honest, the statement said.

Mr. Aboobacker said that there has to be a movement against corruption in schools, where characters are built. Then only India will be free of corruption when persons of integrity would be at the helm of affairs in all walks of life. It is a long drawn process but till then let there be a strong Lokpal to act as a deterrent for the wrong doers.
