PM’s Koodankulam statement challenge to people: Campus Front of India

IMO News Service

Bhopal: Campus Front of India demanded the central government to roll back from its move to make the first unit of the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) operational.

Campus Front national president Anees-uz-Zaman has termed the statement by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his Russian visit as nothing but a challenge to the people of India. It’s dangerous from the part of government to push thousands of people into the face of death in the name of development, said a Press release issued by C. A. Raoof, General Secretary of the Campus Front.

Government is killing people for the sake of multi-national firms highlighting power shortage in the country. All the people in the Koodankulam area are against the proposed nuclear power plant. Government should respect popular will and stop the plan to commission the plant, he added.

Anees-uz-Zaman also informed that Campus Front national delegates would visit Koodankulam protest site on 24th December expressing solidarity to the anti-plant agitation, the release added.
