He was 54. He is survived by his wife and two children. He assumed office in April 2010.

Maulana Fazil, who was participating the three-day “Aalami Tablighi Ijtima” which began at Ghasipura in Eintkhedi village on the outskirts of Bhopal on Saturday (December 10, 2011), suffered a massive stroke after Maghrib Namaz and was rushed to a hospital but he breathed his last on the way. He also solemnized 30 of the about 400 Nikhas that were performed after Asr prayers. He returned home after the Maghrib Namaz and after Isha Namaz he suffered the stroke and thereafter passed away on the way while being rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile, Maulana Ahmad Laat Nadwi has urged the Muslim elites, whom the Almighty Allah has granted a special status in society, to introspect and think over as to how much they have contributed for the uplift of Muslim Ummah in the spiritual salvation.

Addressing an exclusive conclave of Muslim elites in the 64th “Aalami Tableeghi Ijtima” on Sunday morning exhorted them to follow themselves the path shown by the Messenger of Islam Propjet Muhammad (PBUH) and then use their abilities and social status to prevail over their co-religionist to follow tenets of Islam in letter and spirit for a successful life Hereafter. It is the moral responsibility of the elites to safeguard the Eimaan of the Muslim Ummah from various corrupt forces which are hovering around to destroy it, he added.

Maulana Ahmed Laat lamented that extravaganza in marriage ceremonies violating the way shown by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) wherein great pomp and show invites Allah Almighty’s wrath. This is a great curse in the community as it can ill afford to displease the Creator.

On the second day separate special religious discourses were held apart from elite, traders, farmers, students etc. and the participants were asked to follow the Islamic religious tenets in their spirit apart from the message for universal brotherhood. Prominent figures of Tablighi Jamaat who addressed the gatherings included:

In all 390 Nikahs were performed in the Ijtima in the evening on Sunday after Asr prayers in the spirit of Islam by Maulana Sa’ad from the headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat at New Delhi. Before performing Nikahs Maulana Sa’ad threw light on the importance of Nikah and to perform marriage in a simple manner without any pomp and show entailing extravagant expenditure.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called on "Akabreens" where he met Maulana Sa'ad Sahab and other religious elders from the Headquarters Hazrat Nizamuddin, New Delhi who have come to take part in this congregation. He enquired about the well being of the religious leaders and took stock of the arrangements for the congregation.

The members of the organising committee and guests coming from outside praised Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan about good arrangements for the three-day "Aalami Tableeghi Ijtima".

Expressing happiness over arrangements for the congregation, Maulana Sa’ad Sahab said that the venue of the congregation was very peaceful. Addressing the Chief Minister, he said that all are equal in his eyes and he (Chouhan) is engaged in the holy work of disseminating happiness and peace to all. He said that the objective of this congregation was also giving message of peace and humanity to people.

Maulana Sa'ad was all praise of the "Beti Bachao Abhiyan" (Save the Girl Child Campaign) and informed Chouhan that Islam bestows great honour to girl child. The Maulana quoted exclusively from the Holy Qur'an and Hadees which emphasized the importance of upbringing of the girl child and the rewards to parents who do the job well in this respect.

Expressing humility, Mr. Chouhan said that the Chief Ministers were servants of the people. He has been making constant efforts to meet people's expectations.

Earlier on arrival at the Ijtima venue the Chief Minister was welcomed by Ijtima Committee spokesman Atiq-ul-Islam, Deputy Chairman of Bhopal Development Authority Agha Qayyum, Reliable group Chairman Sikandar Hafeez Khan and others.
