Dhaka: Now Bangladesh women’s cricket qualifies for one-day international status after beating Ireland in ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2011 Friday.

Bangladesh recorded an emphatic 95-run victory over Ireland in the suburbs of capital Dhaka.

The nation’s 150 million’s majority is Sunni Muslim, where the society is conservative and women are marginalized, discriminated and neglected.

A career-best six-wicket haul by Khadiza Tul Kubra on Friday also ensured that the local darlings will now play the Super Sixes of ICC Women’s World Cup in India in 2013.

Player of the match Khadiza Tul Kubra wowed the home crowd with a sensational display of bowling. The youngster picked up six wickets for 32 runs.

Elsewhere, West Indies defeated Japan by 10 wickets at Fatullah Cricket Stadium in Narayanganj, USA won against Zimbabwe by 1 run at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur and South Africa beat the Netherlands by 233 runs at BSKP-2 in Savar.

The teams that progress will join England, Australia, India and New Zealand at the World Cup.
