Meanwhile, on the second day of the meeting, Mr. E. Aboobacker, president of Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), addressed the gathering. He highlighted the role of Imams in bringing about a change in society. He said that it was their religious duty to uplift and empower marginalized sections of society and ensure that they get a fair share of the progress and development of a nation. While concluding he said that an Imam is incomplete if he cannot ease day to day problems of the common man.
The oath of office was administered by Mr. Aboobacker to the new office-bearers and the national committee.

The resolutions which were adopted by the National General Council of the All India Imams Council were:-1. Mohalla committees should be strengthened with knowledge of Govt. schemes for educational, economic and social uplift of weaker sections of society and they should work actively to help the masses to avail of its benefits; 2. Sachchar Committee report and Ranganath Mishra Commission recommendations should be implemented and the findings of these reports should be given to the masses. This task will be spearheaded by the All India Imams Council through its grass root level structure; 3. The recommendation of Justice Krishna Iyer in the Women’s code in Kerala recommends a curb on the natural and human right of women to bear offspring. The National General Council demands that this bill should not be implemented; 4. The Central and State governments are plotting and planning to usurp or occupy Waqf properties. Individuals, corporate houses and the administration often work hand in glove to achieve this. These properties should be re-attached to the WAKF board and they should ensure that the benefits of it reach the masses as per their original design. 5. Fascist natured Sangh Parivar is doing its best to return to power in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and to achieve this they are leaving no stone unturned. From a dangerous cross-country “Rath Yatra” to an “artificial” fight on corruption. The All India Imams Council will conduct awareness among Imams to expose this plot in Friday sermons across the country.

Meanwhile, another resolution was adopted demanding the release of Abdun Nassir Madani of PDP who was arrested last year in August 2010 from his home town in Kerala. If there is no proceedings being conducted on him and if his guilt cannot be proved then he should be released immediately. All India Imams Council stands against injustices, committed against any and every section of society and in keeping with this if Abdun Nasir Madani is innocent he should not be kept in custody, the resolution said.
The release stated that conclusion of the National General Council meeting of AIIC was in a grand public meeting in which the new National office-bearers and the committee members were felicitated.
