Madhya Pradesh achieves over 10 pc growth rate during 11th Five-Year Plan

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh state has registered over 10 per cent growth rate of gross domestic product during the 11th Five-Year Plan.

This was informed during the review of the vision document to be presented at National Development Council's meeting. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan presided over the review meeting held at Mantralaya (State secretariat).

At the meeting it was stated that the agriculture sector has witnessed a growth rate of 9.38 per cent against five percent, industrial sector has registered 11.25 per cent growth rate against 10 percent while service sector growth rate has been about 10 per cent against earlier eight per cent.

The meeting was informed that a target has been fixed to achieve 11.5 growth rate during the 12th Five-Year Plan. State's growth rate in agriculture sector is 9.38 per cent, which is much more than the national growth rate of two percent. Target for this growth rate has been fixed at 10 percent during 12th Five-Year Plan.

While State Planning Commission has lauded achievement of growth rate during 11th Five-Year Plan, it has also expressed the possibility of achieving 11.50 percent growth rate during 12th Five-Year Plan.

During 11th Five-Year Plan, achievement of Rs. 87,187 crore was made against total outlay of 70,239 crore. During 12th Five-Year Plan, total outlay of Rs. 2,10,000 crore has been earmarked, which is thrice that the outlay of 11th Five-Year Plan.

Targets for 12th Five-Year Plan, financial issues, social disparities, regional imbalance and poverty eradication were also extensively discussed during the review meeting apart from important achievement in agriculture sector and proposals regarding infrastructures like irrigation, giving priority to energy, social sectors like health, nutrition, for next Five-Year Plan. While reviewing efforts for industrial development, stress was laid on expected cooperation of Centre.

Those present on the occasion included state Finance and Planning Minister Mr. Raghavji, Chairman of state Planning Commission Mr. Babulal Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. O.P. Rawat, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of various departments. The vision document was presented by Mr. K. Suresh.
