World Economic Forum Chairman Prof. Klaus Schwab lauds visionary approach of Madhya Pradesh CM

Bhopal: "We are delighted to host the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, which is a very progressive State of India. It is a pleasure to note that the 30 member business delegation at the World Economic Forum’s 2011 annual meeting of the New Champions, Madhya Pradesh has made a significant mark for itself”, said Prof. Klaus Schwab, executive chairman of WEF in his first meeting with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

So impressed was the founder chairman of WEF that he extended a personal invitation to the Chief Minister to join the India Economic Summit being jointly organised by the World Economic Forum and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in November at Bombay.

Meanwhile, distinguished persons and industry barons taking part in the World Economic Forum, (WEF), organized at Dalian city of China called on the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan. World Economic Forum Chairman Klaus Schwab and M.W Gender Group Chairman Jorgen Wild are also taking part in the forum.

According to an official release Mr. Chouhan held discussions with Prof. Klaus Schwab on progress and development projects of Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister apprised Prof. Klaus Schwab of works being executed for the welfare of down-trodden community in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and policies for maintaining environment. Mr. Chouhan also greeted Prof. Klaus Schwab on holding such big World Economic Forum meet.

Madhya Pradesh Government threw a banquet in honour of representatives of World Economic Forum and industrialists of China on the night of September 14. During this, available resources in Madhya Pradesh for the investors were informed about. Indian Ambassador to China Mr. Jai Shankar and Chinese Council for Promotion of Trade and Industries Chairman Mr. U. Gothyu were also present on this occasion.

Mr. Chouhan threw light on important achievements under good governance and development in the field of agriculture, social, education, health in rural areas. Mr. Jai Shankar appreciating investors friends scheme informed the investors about the achievements of the State. Commerce and Industries Minister Mr. Kailash Vijayvargiya invited the investors to invest into food processing, IT and industries sectors.

Indian Union Minister of State for planning, science, technology and geology department Mr. Ashvini Kumar, Executive Co-chairman, Infosys Technology Limited Mr. Krishnagopal Krishnan, HCL Technology India CEO Vinit Nair, members of Chinese Council for Promotion of Trade and Industries and around 110 foreign representatives participated in the banquet dinner.

MW Gender Group Chairman Mr. Jorgen Wild also met the Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan. He is pioneer in photovoltaic solar technology in Germany. Mr. Jorgen Wild showed interests in bio-technology renewal energy and pharma sector and assured of providing help in biomass gasification solar energy sector in Madhya Pradesh.

Mr. Jun Arai, President, Showa Shell, met the Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan on Thursday morning. His company is pioneer in solar energy sector in Tokyo and installed 900 megawatt solar energy plant in Japan and start commissioning soon. Mr. Jun Arai showed his interest in investing in Madhya Pradesh and said that the State is a suitable place for the installation of plant. The Chief Minister highlighting the scope in the sector of energy invited him to invest into Madhya Pradesh.

Special representative in Netherlands Foreign Ministry and senior advisor of Natural Resources Ministry Mr. Prince Jaime de Bourbon Parme met the Chief Minister. Mr. Chouhan informed him about the development works in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and environment protection sectors. He also apprised Mr. Prince of urban development apart from activities of good governance in Madhya Pradesh. Mr. Parme told the Chief Minister that his country is studying the activities in India and is ready to extend all possible help to the various projects in India. He invited the Chief Minister to Netherlands in order to study agriculture related projects.

Industrialist Mr. S. Gopinath also met the Chief Minister. He informed that his company is Bangalore based having 400 workers. The company is running software computers school in 11 countries. He is interested in running the software computers school in Madhya Pradesh too.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan participated in "Insights from emerging market infrastructure" interactive session of World Economic Forum here this afternoon. On the occasion, he held talks with experts, industrialists and representatives of various countries and apprised them of achievements in important projects of infrastructure development being executed in Madhya Pradesh under PPP Mode.

The Chief Minister also held talks over development projects in the infrastructure sector in India, especially highways, ports, airports, irrigation and energy sectors. The Chief Minister informed them about the progress of development of roads and water supply schemes under PPP Mode in Madhya Pradesh and successes registered in the implementation of important power projects. The Chief Minister informed that private sector investment worth $ 200 crore has been attracted for construction of roads in the state. He also mentioned progress in integrated development sector.

Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan also gave answers to the questions posed to him and representatives taking part in the interactive session also wanted to know about financial provisions in infrastructure sector in Madhya Pradesh. In reply, the Chief Minister mentioned viability gap funding in construction of roads in the state. The Chief Minister informed that effective application of IT sector is also being made in administrative reforms and e-governance in Madhya Pradesh.

Apart from Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan, Commerce, Industries and Employment Minister Mr. Kailash Vijayvargiya and members of high-level delegation of Madhya Pradesh were also present on the occasion.

The session was specially attended by. Mr. Rebeca Grynspan, UN Under secretary- General and UNDP, New York, Mr. Ken Hu, Deputy Chairman, Huawei Technologies, Mr. Luis A. Moreno, President, Inter-American Development Bank, Washington DC and Mr. Xu Ming, Chairman, Dalian Shide Group

Later during one-to-one meeting, former Prime Minister of Singapore Mr. Goh Chok Tong met Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan. Mr. Chouhan held talks with him on development in Singapore apart from apprising him of important works being undertaken in health and education sectors in Madhya Pradesh, the release added.
