Madhya Pradesh CM Chouhan visits IT Park at Dalian on first day of China visit

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has reached China on nine-day visit on the invitation of World Economic Forum, took stock of development works in information technology sector in Dalian city on the first day of his visit. Dalian is one of prominent cities of China. The city situated on seashore is very important from commercial point of view. The Chief Minister along with member of Madhya Pradesh's delegation visited Dalian Ascendas IT Park situated near Dalian.

Dalian Ascendas IT Park is China's IT hub with largest space and is considered as a leading centre in the IT sector. About six lakh square meter space is available in this IT Park and 30,000 IT professionals are working there. It was established in 2007. It is also known as 'Green Silicon Valley.' The local administration has reserved land for software companies in the 15 kilometre area parallel to it. Dalian Ascendas IT Park was established by Ascendas, which is major infrastructure company of Asia. Its headquarters is in Singapore.

During the visit of Dalian Ascendas IT Park, Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan and members of the delegation also inspected the workspace of India's second largest software company 'Infosys'. Senior officers of Infosys were also present on the occasion. Mr. Chouhan and delegation members also visited another software company 'Yaditab'. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Commerce & Industries, Employment and IT Minister Mr. Kailash Vijayvargiya, Secretary Commerce, Industry and Employment Mr. P.K. Dash, MD of MP Triffec Mr. P.K. Das, Secretary to CM and MD of MP Road Development Corporation Mr. Vivek Agrawal and Mr. Jeffriton as representative of Dalian Ascendas IT Park company.

The Chief Minister will attend various programmes under World Economic Forum on Wednesday (September 14). The World Economic Forum is an independent international organisation, which has been constituted to guide commercial, educational and other social activities. It was constituted in 1971 with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

It is a non-political organisation. This institution discusses views of top business leaders, international political leaders, selected intellectuals and journalists on the issues pertaining to health, environment, industry and commercial as well as economic activities. Besides, the foundation also discusses and takes action on various research reports.

The institution was founded by Claus Schwab in 1971. He was born in Germany and was a professor at Geneva University. Earlier, the name of this organisation was European Management. In 1984, its name was changed to "World Economic Forum".

As per schedule of World Economic Forum, Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan will take part in networking breakfast meeting on September 14 at 7.45 am. Union Minister of State for Planning, Science, Technology and Geology Mr. Ashwini Kumar, State Bank of India Chairman Mr. Prateep Chaudhary and CEO of HCL Technology India Mr. Vineet Nayar will also be present on the occasion.

After this programme, the Chief Minister will attend the plenary session of World Economic Forum programme 'New Champions 2011', which will be addressed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. Under Networking Meeting, Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan will meet distinguished industrialists, economists and educationists. These include Mss. Kate Hampton (Children's Investment Fund, Prof. Claus Schwab (Chairman World Economic Forum), Mr. Punuswamy, Vice-President Etihad Airways, Nabeel Ali Alyusuf, Director General, His Highness Ruler of Dubai and Dr. Roland Bush.

Earlier, on September 12, Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan had also took stock of tourism and trading activities and visited some places at Hong Kong during his transit stay there. Consul General of Hong Kong was also present on the occasion.
