Srinagar: The startling revelations made by State Human Rights Commission followed by circulation of a vedio posted on You Tube showing armymen killing an unarmed person from point blank range in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on July 8, 2011, is likely to spark off a new phase of violence as is evident from the intentions of the separatist leadership of Kashmir. During last one month one after another serious allegations of human rights violations are being levelled against security forces and the government, this time has admitted some worst kind of human rights violations being perpetuated by the armed forces which including that of custodial death of a youth in sopore, fake encounter in Poonch and other such incidents.

A video posted on You Tube showing armymen killing an unarmed person from point blank range in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on July 8, 2011, by Indian army after helping him from under the rubble of a house damaged collaterally during an encounter.
The caption of the video clip posted on YouTube reads, "Indian Army soldiers accompanied by a senior officer are shooting from point blank at an unarmed man in Pulwama district on July 8, 2011."

Though the army Monday came out with a statement claiming that the man killed was a hard core LeT militant, the video, however, shows an unarmed man waving his hand and being heard shouting in pain underneath the rubble of the destroyed house.

The video shows the troopers, accompanied by an officer, standing on the debris. As they hear the cries of the person buried underneath the rubble, they start removing the debris.
A trooper kneels on the ground and removes some of the debris using his hands and another trooper opens fire at point blank range on him.

The separatist political leadership was yet to react to the assertions made by the state human rights commission about the presence of unmarked mass graves in Kashmir, the video placed on You Tube was circulated enormously through out the day which of course has the potential to add to the volatile situation.

On the other hand, the separatists, well before the revelations of SHRC and today’s You Tube circulation, have hinted at mass mobilization after Eid if their demand for release of all detainees before August 30 was not met.
