AMU professor to deliver lectures at University of Malaya and International Islamic University

Aligarh: Prof. Zafar Ahsan, Department of Mathematics at the Aligarh Muslim University has been invited to deliver lectures at University of Malaya and International Islamic University, Malaysia during July 15-28, 2011. During his visit, he will deliver a series of three lectures on the applications of mathematics at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, University of Malaya and one public lecture each at the University of Malaya and International Islamic University on "The Quran and Modern Cosmology". Prof. Ahsan will also be delivering an invited talk titled "Analogies between electromagnetism and gravitation in general relativity" on July 23, 2011 at the Seminar on Mathematical Sciences 2011 organized by Institute of Mathematical Sciences, University of Malaya.

Prof. Ahsan is the Member of Research Board of Advisors, American Biography Institute (USA); Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Tensor Society of India, Managing Editor of Aligarh Bulletin of Mathematics; Members of Editorial Board of Journal of Calcutta Mathematical Society, International e-Journal of Numerical Analysis and related topics and Bulletin of Pure and Applied Mathematics; Referee of various journals of mathematics and physics.

Prof. Zafar Ahsan has been working on general relativity. He has so far published 70 research papers in national and international journals of repute. He has participated in 52 conferences in India and abroad and has presented his work as an invited speaker in 30 conferences. He has published 04 books and all these books are prescribed as textbooks in several Indian and foreign universities. His book on Differential Equations (2nd Edition, 2004, Twelfth reprint, April 2010) is a bestseller since 1999.

His current research interest, apart from General Relativity and Gravitation, is on Quran and Modern Cosmology and he has delivered public talks on this topics at a number of places like Tabriz (Iran); Vallabh Vidyanagar (Gujrat); Jamia Millia Islamia (New Delhi); Integral University, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh); Islamia College, Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh); Jamea-tul-Hidayat (Jaipur); Paigham-e-Noor Haque Conference, Jagdishpur (Uttar Pradesh); Azad Girl's School, Shimoga (Karnataka); Tasmia Educational Society, Dehradun (Uttra Khand) and AMU.
